Hello World!

Hello World! ← that’s the first thing that came to mind as I wondered how to open my first blog post. Computer programmers have habitually used that as their first project when they learn a new programming language. The project typically is to figure out how to get the software to print the words “Hello World!” on the screen using nothing but the language the programmer is trying to master, almost as if the recently minted lines of code are coming to life for the first time and becoming a sentient being. Perhaps it’s appropriate then to start my new blog off this way as it’s the first time I’m giving space for this part of me to truly live. It’s hard to describe, but I have felt the stirring of something in my soul, a part of me seeking expression. It involves my life’s work, my magnum opus. I don’t have all the pieces yet (in fact, there are some gaping holes in between the thoughts and ideas). I feel it would hold me more accountable if I committed to document my journey along the path of mastery in the direction of accomplishing my life's work. I’m asking you, my readers, to hold me accountable (which, at the time of this writing, is just 1 person - my wife, Katie). On my journey, there will be days where I don’t want to do the work. It’ll be scary, hard, inconvenient, embarrassing, and lonely at times.

Here, you will see the mosaic of all the different parts of my life that have meaning and that I value. Having an extraordinary marriage, an amazing relationship with each of my kids, pushing my body past its physical limits and being in peak physical condition, mastering my thoughts and emotions, adventure, travel, story-telling, energy, and using the tools of science to bring mankind in harmony with the universe.
